How to Move Past Feeling Stuck Steps 3-4
I am talking about what to do when you feel stuck, or in a rut, and how to move past it. When you begin feeling unmotivated, emotionally disconnected, or even depressed, it could come from a series of things. If you haven’t already check out steps 1-2 to get started.
Hang Around Positive People
The third step is to hang around motivated individuals. The company you keep is so important; you are definitely the company you keep. If you’re hanging around nine negative people, you are sure to be the tenth. It doesn’t matter how hard you try [not to be], you’re going to be the tenth negative person. What do you recharge? How do you keep your positive thinking going if everyone around you is toxic and negative? You must hang around goal oriented, self motivated, positive go-getter individuals. If you have that kind of motivation around, you will definitely be able to move past feeling stuck and eventually match their energy. It is impossible to have mentors and leaders around you that are positive go-getters and you not feed off the energy. You will begin to add value back into your circle and possibly surpass their level of motivation. The people you hang around should definitely be on a higher level. You want them to be better than you so you can grow and learn from them. Also, you can eventually become their teacher again. Iron sharpens iron, therefore you must have the ability to learn from the people around you. Be very cognizant of your circle, especially when you’re battling depression, or feeling stuck, or whatever is keeping you from having joy and peace in your life.
Speak and Think Positively
The fourth step is to speak and think positively – this is so important. In your day to day life (even if you’re not feeling stuck), your thoughts and your mouth changes your world. When you change your mind you change your world. Some people don’t understand how the smallest things (even if you say it in a joking manner) still manifests. Therefore, be cognizant of your mind so your world can continue to evolve and change. You must change your mind and your speech when you are going through a rut. You will benefit from telling yourself positive statements and affirmations daily even if it’s not how you’re feeling at that moment. Eventually, your mind will catch up. Start to manifest the life you want daily and speak it into your now; use your God given power. You have the ability to shift the atmosphere by the power of your mind, tongue, and the power of manifestation.
I was battling depression from April until August, I lost weight, I wasn’t eating, I was crying a lot. As a therapist I knew depression because I work on it with people all of the time. It was a struggle for me getting out of bed, so I had to do something about it. Besides God, no one is going to love me like myself. When I prayed I asked God to help me to change. I started speaking positively, changing my daily routine – even if I was taking my dog for a walk every day to the trash can just to get out the bed or watching TV in the living room instead of in my bed. Little things like that changed my feelings of depression and feeling stuck.
